List of Tasks and Activities

In each section of the course, you will create an activity using one or more of the various tools discussed. In each case, you should work through the readings and materials in the section beforehand. In order for us to give you feedback, please place links to the activity in your Developer's Notebook along with the assignment writeup.Along with it, you will write up the assignment to accompany it. For each assignment, your write up should include:

  • the wording of the assignment that you will give to your students
  • where/how they will complete it and turn it in;
  • how/where you will provide feedback.
  • a link to the website/tool/document - Note that you must create something. Simply saying what you will do is not sufficient.

Note that in most cases you will need to create an account on the website. These are free, though some may have premium levels of functionality if you choose to use them.

NOTE that you are always welcome to use a different tool/website. You are NOT required to use the sites we discuss. However, the tool you choose must provide similar affordances, i.e. you cannot use Youtube for the video as it adds no value.

You must use a different tool/website for each assignment.

It is an expectation of the course that you will complete all of the assignments.

Technology and Equity

In your developer’s notebook, write a reflection that touches on the following questions:

  • Do all of your students have equal access to the technology - devices, wifi, etc. - necessary to do the kinds of work we are looking at in this course?
  • Does your school proactively address unequal access to technology?
  • In the past, how have any assignments that you have given that necessitated the use of technology made assumptions about student access?

Ask a colleague to read your reflection and give feedback in terms of what they see at the school, or introduce this as a topic of discussion in a department or faculty meeting.
