While the purpose of blogging is to get students to write more, to engage with a wider audience, and to be more active in giving peer feedback, teachers will also want to use it to communicate with their audience - students, parents, administrators and colleagues - and as an important model for students.

While the content of the teacher's blog is almost certainly going to differ from that of the students, its mere existence will send a powerful message.
