Following is the task you will undertake as part of this section. You should have already worked through the material in the section. Note that you are welcome to use a different tool - remember that it is not the tool, but what you are trying to accomplish that is important. The activity/task should aim to help the students practice and improve her language proficiency/ability. Place links to the website/tool and the assignment writeup in your Developer’s Notebook.

Communicating

Write up an assignment based on a unit, and with a specific focus, for students to discuss via Gmail chat or WeChat. Assuming they already have the necessary accounts, give clear instructions as to how they will carry out the assignment. Decide how you will assess their mastery of the focus, then write that up as well.

Take some time to consider the following:

  • How can you differentiate this assignment? How can you make his assignment cater to different learning styles?
  • How does your assignment description promote inclusion? Does the wording favor certain groups? Might the wording alienate members of some groups?
  • Double check your assignment to ensure that any assumptions about prior knowledge do not disenfranchise traditionally underserved groups or favor other groups.
