Everyone has a network, and it is increasingly important that students as well as teachers and other professionals collaborate in order to benefit from what others know and can contribute. For our purposes, however, I do not feel that students need to proactively create a PLN, nor do teachers need to promote this.

That is not to suggest that students should not be involved with other like-minded people and organizations; they should, and they should be encouraged by parents and teachers. Nonetheless, this falls short of the intentional, proactive process that teachers should undertake.
